Doctor Who “The End of Time – Part 1″ – Thoughts and Analysis

The penultimate episode/special in many ways highlights some of the best and worst aspects of Russell T Davies time on Doctor Who, with it on one hand being a highly enjoyable fast paced episode with good character development and mysteries, but on the other having a plot with holes so big you could drive a truck through them and an strong element of Deus ex Machina.

Doctor Who “The Waters of Mars” – Thoughts and Analysis

After Planet of the Dead I went into this special not really expecting much, but thankfully ended up thinking that this was a really enjoyable episode whose main problem was that this really should have been the first special with the ending changed so that the Doctor did not realise the implications of what he had done.

Doctor Who Easter Special: “Planet of the Dead” Summary and Analysis

Warning this post contains detailed spoilers for the 2009 Doctor Who Easter Special “Planet of the Dead”

It is a sad indictment of an episode if the only thing you really care about, is the set up for a later episode or more accurately special. The special itself would be a fairly average episode and there was little if anything to make it stand out from a standard episode of Doctor Who, which is disappointing given that there are only a limited number of specials, and the trailer for the next episode does not give me high expectations either.

It has been revealed that the 11th Doctor will be the 26 year old actor Matt Smith, which makes him the youngest actor to play the Doctor as he is 3 years younger than Peter Davidson was when he became the 5th Doctor in 1981.
