Evangelion: 2.22 – You Can (Not) Advance

The Rebuild of Evangelion continues in Evangelion 2.22, with the events of episode’s 7-19 of the series being re-imagined in this time instalment. While Evangelion 1.11 suffered from being slightly stale if you were familiar with the series, it appears that lessons have been learnt with Evangelion 2.22 and made watching it a more satisfying experience.

Evangelion: 1.11 – You Are (Not) Alone

15 years after the original series, the first of four movies depicting a re-imagining of Neon Genesis Evangelion finally arrives in the UK. Evangelion 1.11 provides a fresh take on the events of the first 6 episodes of the TV series, though it may be a little lacking in new material for anyone familiar with the original series.

Film Thoughts – Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen (Spoilers)

POST CONTAINS SPOILERS

My initial impression of Transformers 2 was that it was a lot better than the first film, but I still don’t like the design of the Transformers compared to the original cartoon. For fans of the original cartoon like myself, there are a ton of references which will be familiar like the Matrix of Leadership, seekers as well as plot elements that seem ripped from the cartoon. Despite these homages, I still wish the designs of the transformers were closer to the originals where possible.

Film Review: Star Trek – Relatively Spoiler Free

After seeing the excellently designed trailer and all the glossy promotional material and clips, I went into see Star Trek with high expectations, when I left the cinema I found myself slightly disappointed since while the film was enjoyable and quite good, honouring the spirit of Trek. In some ways I found it tried too hard to honour the original Trek and in other ways not hard enough.
