FlashForward 1.10 “A561984″ – Episode Synopsis
The episode opens with Nhadra Udaya watching a Christmas Carol, we then see a window covered with pictures some of which are the same as on Mark’s Mosaic board, and a picture of Demetri with the note A561984 attached.
We then move to the airport in Hong Kong where Mark is not answering a cell phone call from Director Wedeck. They are then met by FBI agent Marshall Vogel, who is well versed on Mark and Demetri and tells them to go home. Mark then answers his phone and gets chewed out by Wedeck, this has no effect on Mark who hangs up on him after lying to him claiming that he told Demetri, that he (Wedeck) had changed his mind about going to Hong Kong.
There is then a press conference at NLAP (National Linear Accelerator Project) introduced by Gordon Myhill, where Lloyd Simcoe and Simon Campos announce they are responsible for the Blackout, this announcement causes mayhem in the auditorium and one of the attendees graps a gun and tries to shoot Lloyd. After this there is an argument between Lloyd and Simon where Simon makes it clear that he does not accept that NLAP was the cause of the Blackout.
At the FBI Wedeck tells Janis he wants to speak Simon and Lloyd but cant find them, Janis then remembers that Simcoe’s son Dylan is a patient at the hospital and is sent to wait for him to turn up there.
Later that evening Wedeck is surprised when Simon turns up at the FBI office in person. He tells Wedeck he does not accept that he was responsible at offers to help him find the true cause of the blackout, this offer is accepted.
In Hong Kong, Mark manages to discover Nhadra’s identity and probable location when he intimates to the owner of a Persian restaurant that he could find himself taken into secret detention by the US if he does not co-operate.
Back in the US, Wedeck shows Simon the pictures of the towers from Somalia failing to successfully mask where they were taken. Simon recognises the towers as being a specialised pulse laser for a plasma afterburner he designed and claims the concept will win him a nobel prize in a couple of years. Simon is shocked to learn that the picture is real and not a simulation and the picture was taken in 1991 a year before he came up with the concept.
After Simon fails to come up with any names for alternate creators of his idea, he is shown the file on D Gibbons. Simon does not recognise him but agrees to help find him. At the hospital Lloyd tries and fails to find a more secure hospital for Dylan until Olivia intervenes.
In Hong Kong Mark and Demetri have tracked down Nhadra who has guards. Nhadra claims she called Demetri as his death was the first domino to fall in an unfortunate series of events. She then claims Mark was the one who killed Demetri, she then verifies the information by listing the serial number of Marks gun (A561984), she then tells them to leave. Mark responds by taking her hostage at gunpoint. This fails when Agent Vogel intervenes.
At the airport Mark works out that Vogel is not FBI or CIA, Mark then gets a phonecall from Wedeck who “fires him” and Mark gives his badge and gun to Demetri. We then see Nhadra telling D Gibbons that she can no longer protect him.
In the US we see Demetri’s fiancé Zoey going to speak to Demetri’s mother, we then learn that it was not Demetri’s wedding but his memorial service. Zoey assures Demetri’s mother that they can change the future.
At the hospital Janis speaks to Bryce about finding a suitable fertility clinic and doctor so she can try for a child, which he provides. Elsewhere Dylan is being transferred to a new hospital, it soon becomes clear that this is a setup when the paramedics treat Dylan in the wrong way leading to Olivia calling security. The paramedics respond by drawing guns and killing the guard, they then take Lloyd hostage and drive away with him in the back of the ambulance leaving Dylan at the hospital with Olivia.
