Mark, Wedeck, Demetri and Vreede are leaving the capitol building in Washington at 1.30am with Mark telling Wedeck that what he does remember he remembers clearly with Wedeck responding by telling Mark not to tell anyone or he will be DOA. Mark gets into the car as he calls someone and tells them that although the trip was a disaster Wedeck pulled a rabbit, before we hear more though a large SUV rams into the car at high speed before some heavily armed (Asian?) men get out the SUV and blow Marks car up with a rocket launcher.

We then go back 39 hours and see that they are in Washington for Senate hearings and are getting polygraphed about what they saw in their Flash Forward. We see Vreede’s Flash Forward for the first time and see that he was leaving via the security exit which he assumes is because he was late.

After the polygraph we see Mark on the phone to Aaron who is at Marks house. Aaron suggests that Mark goes to a meeting while he is in Washington which Olivia overhears and is suspicious about.

We discover Wedeck used to live in Washington and the hearing will decide if Mosaic continues to get funding. We see him playing basketball with an unknown man called Dave, and Wedeck is asking him for help calling Dave a big dog. Wedeck then gets bad news that the senator in charge of the hearings is Clemente and Wedeck has problems with her. Dave then says it’s funny seeing Wedeck act like a trusty boyscout which Wedeck responds by saying you would know.

Back in LA we see Janis in martial arts lessons and a fellow student tries and fails to pick her up. Back in the office Al hands Janis and another agent satellite footage from the CIA of Somalia which they start to analyse for anything related to the 1991 “proto-blackout”

Back in Washington we see Wedeck, Vreede and Demetri attend a Presidential press conference, when the president enters in turns out to be Dave who we saw playing basketball with Wedeck earlier! We find out that the senate hearings will determine which investigations into the black out will go forward and which will be cut. We also see a bit of the Presidents Flash Forward in which he is awoken in the middle of the night as something’s happening.

Back in LA we see Olivia talking to Aaron and find out the last time Mark fell off the wagon it was a similar situation to what is happening now, when Mark was away from home just promoted and testifying in a case from work. Olivia asks Aaron if he thinks Mark will take a drink which Aaron evades answering and tells Olivia to trust him.

In Washington the President invites Wedeck to become the Director of Homeland Security as he owes Wedeck one, though Wedeck thinks Clemente will try to block it the President is not too worried.

Back in LA we see that Janis is on a date with the woman from her martial arts lesson, though Janis’ colleagues don’t know she is gay.

In the senate hearings we hear various theories as to why the blackout occurred from chemicals in the water supply to aliens to China. The Chinese theory has some plausibility since due to the time of the blackout (2am in China) they had the lowest casualty rate of “only” less than 0.5% (to put this in perspective it means their number of casualties was less than 6.5 million), while America had the highest.

After the first early sessions we see Senator Joyce Clemente confront Wedeck about the past. Clemente mentions an incident 6 years ago where Wedeck did something to a woman and if she had proved it she (Clemente) would have become president (sitting behind the desk in the Oval office). After a minor confrontation, Clemente taunts Wedeck by saying in her Flash Forward she saw herself as President!

In the hearing Clemente gives Wedeck a very tough time disparaging his efforts and noting that the investigation was unauthorised. The hearing ends with Clemente ordering that Mark takes the stand as the investigation is based on his Flash Forward. The next day Clemente is equally hard on Mark who appears to be crumbling under the strain. We then discover while most peoples Flash Forward were clearly defined Marks was unclear and only accounted for 30 seconds while other peoples could recall all of it. Just after this happens Wedeck storms out and cant be found.

After the hearing as Mark, Vreede and Demetri discuss how badly the hearing went, and how the way Clemente laid things out made it look like she had a good point, they get a phone call from LA. In LA the analysis of the satellite imagery of Somalia has found the Tower, or more accurately Towers of which there were 5 which were built in the time leading up to the “proto black out”.

A little later Wedeck calls Janis and asks her to do something for him, we then see him go to a womans house (Renee) who treats him cautiously before inviting him in, the womans son though is quite happy to see him. After that we see Wedeck with the President, when the President starts to ask him to be the head of the DHS again. Wedeck stops this though by handing the President a photograph which shows him (the President) with Renee. It turns out that Wedeck was the bag man who paid Renee ¼ million to disappear though she did not go very far. Wedeck then blackmails the President to continue the funding of Mosaic. After Wedeck leaves the President calls someone saying he has a problem that needs to be taken care of.

Mark, Vreede and Demetri are commiserating their bad fortune at a karaoke barm which Mark cant stand. Wedeck then arrives and he and Mark get into an argument over the afternoons events. As Wedeck leaves the room Mark follows him and Wedeck realises that Clemente’s questions where ones he should have asked Mark ages ago. Mark eventually admits to Wedeck that he was “loaded” during his Flash Forward. Wedeck is shaken by this as he has put his career on the line based on Mark’s Flash Forward. Vreede and Demetri enter just after this and Wedeck then tells them it is celebration time as they now have funding.

Back in LA we see Olivia receive a text message from an unknown person at a blocked number which tells her that Mark was drinking in his Flash Forward.

We then see the events from the start of the ending, and also find out that Clemente has become Vice President and that Mark was calling Janis. We then see Janis get attacked by two armed (Asian?) men which ends up with her being shot in the stomach but able to disable/kill both attackers.

Back in Washington everyone had managed to escape the car before it was blown up, and they manage to kill/injure several of their attackers but 2 manage to escape.

The episode ends with us seeing a bleeding Janis lying in the middle of the road remembering her Flash Forward.
