FlashForward Episode 1 “No More Good Days” Synopsis
Warning: This post contains spoilers if you have not seen the episode
We open with FBI agent Mark Benford struggling out of the wreck of an overturned car and calling for his partner Demetri Noh who is nowhere to be found, it is instantly clear that a major incident has occurred as we see wrecked cars, some people have been killed and people screaming or wandering around injured in a daze.
We then go back 4 hours and see Mark leaving for an AA meeting and meet his wife Olivia (a Doctor) and daughter Charlie. After Mark leaves we see Olivia calling a colleague Bryce Varley who is walking along a pier at a beach and is on the verge of committing suicide. At the AA meeting we meet Marks sponsor Aaron Stark who is struggling following the death of his daughter Tracy in Afghanistan.
We then see Mark and Demetri on the stakeout immediately preceding the incident, and see them chasing down a Black SUV which contains suspected terrorists. As the chase proceeds we cut between images of several of the cast and then see Mark have a Flash forward in time to 10pm on April 29th 2010 with him obsessing over a wall chart in his office and 2 armed masked men entering apparently to kill him. The flash forward ends and we then resume where the episode started and see where everyone else ended up including Bryce who changes his mind about committing suicide. Back with Mark it becomes apparent that the carnage is not limited to one area as we see wrecked cars strewn across several highways and skyscrapers aflame.
Mark then finds Dimitri who is on the other side of the road with minor injuries and they arrest the woman in the Black SUV who Demetri initially blames for the incident. After Mark calms him down Demetri tells Mark to head to the hospital to find Olivia as he cant get through on his phone and on the way there he discovers the incident was world wide.
Back at the Office 4 hours later, Marks boss Stanford Wedeck calls a meeting where they discuss the Blackout. During this meeting Mark puts them on track of thinking it was not just a blackout and after he mentions his Flash Forward other people come forward with details of theirs and it soon becomes clear that everyone experienced the same type of thing and that it was probably real after one of his colleagues Al Gough verifies the experience by calling their liaison in New Scotland Yard (London, England) Fiona Banks who he was having a meeting with in his Flash Forward and their experiences match (Rutherford Case, Pigeon hitting window).
Later on agent Janis Hawk proposes setting up a website so that they can collate all the information from the visions to see if anything useful can be gleaned from them. On the basis of Mark’s vision Stanford places him in charge of the Mosaic investigation. In his office Mark then starts to set up the board he saw in his flash forward, starting off with post it notes of any clues he can remember from it. Demetri then confides in Mark that he is worried that because he saw nothing he will die in the next 6 months.
Back at his house Mark talks to Aaron and tells him that he was drinking in his vision and worries about what it means for his marriage. Aaron then tells Mark that his daughter Tracy is alive in his flash forward. Later when he speaks to his wife Olivia, she is upset as in her flash forward she was with another man who she has not yet met. We then see the man come into the hospital as he is the parent of one of Olivia’s patients. As Mark cant get to sleep he goes into the garden where he finds his daughter Charlie, she then gives him a friendship bracelet like the one he saw in his flash forward.
We then go back to the FBI office where Janis shows Demetri footage of a man who was awake at the time of the blackout in a baseball stadium in Detroit.
